COG's podcast, Think Regionally, raises awareness about metropolitan Washington's biggest challenges and focuses on solutions. The podcast, which is hosted by former Washington Post columnist Robert McCartney, features local government, business, and non-profit leaders talking about a variety of timely topics, including the region's economy, racial equity, transportation, housing, and climate change.

    COG Installs 2004 Corporate Officers

    At its Annual Meeting held in December at the National Press Club, the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (COG) announced Corporate Officers for 2004 . Robert Dorsey, a member of the Rockville City Council will serve as president; Penelope Gross, Fairfax County Board of Supervisors, and Kelvin Robinson, chief of staff for the District of Columbia, are vice presidents; and Michael Knapp from the Montgomery County Council is secretary/treasurer.

    Washington Area Housing Trust Fund Grants First Loan

    Earlier this fall, the Washington Area Housing Trust Fund approved its first loan. The Island Walk Cooperative, a 102-unit limited equity Section 8 cooperative in Reston, VA, has received $150,000 for predevelopment of the property. Originally developed by Fairfax County in 1979, and controlled by its Board of Directors, the complex has seen substantial deterioration in recent years.

    Rockville Council Member Robert Dorsey Assumes Role as COG President Pro Tem

    Rockville Councilmember Bob Dorsey has become president pro tem of the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments effective Sept. 12. Dorsey, who had served as vice president, succeeds John Koskinen, who stepped down from his role as COG president upon leaving his post as the District of Columbia’s deputy mayor and city administrator.
