COG's podcast, Think Regionally, raises awareness about metropolitan Washington's biggest challenges and focuses on solutions. The podcast, which is hosted by former Washington Post columnist Robert McCartney, features local government, business, and non-profit leaders talking about a variety of timely topics, including the region's economy, racial equity, transportation, housing, and climate change.

    COG and the Freddie Mac Foundation honored hundreds of foster parents from the metropolitan Washington region during its second annual gala tribute to Foster Parent Appreciation Month in May.     The Metropolitan Washington Air Quality Committee (MWAQC) approved its revised air quality plan, paving the way for state air agencies to submit the plan to the Environmental Protection Agency for approval. The move followed a 30-day period for public comment that ended in January.

    At a joint press conference, the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (COG) and the Greater Washington Board of Trade (BOT) announced a new effort to encourage 50,000 more commuters to telecommute by 2005. The program, which is aimed at large employers and federal agencies includes free customized training programs and free trials at telecommuting or “telework” centers, marks the first time that public and private organizations in the metropolitan Washington area have come together to ​

    The Metropolitan Washington Air Quality Committee (MWAQC) has released its revised regional air quality plan for public comment. Beginning December 20, 2003 through January 22, 2004, the public will be able to view and to comment on the air quality plan to the state air agencies and online.
