Former Virginia State Senator and City of Alexandria Mayor Patsy Ticer passed away on August 7, 2017. Ticer served on the Transportation Planning Board (TPB) for two decades, from 1991 to 2011—first as a representative of the City of Alexandria, then later as a representative of the Virginia State Senate.​

The Metropolitan Washington Air Quality Committee and the Climate, Energy, and Environment Policy Committee adopted a new Environmental Justice Toolkit developed by the Air and Climate Public Advisory Committee (ACPAC). The toolkit provides guidance to policymakers on incorporating social equity, cultural sensitivity, and community health considerations into air quality, climate, and energy planning. ACPAC Vice Chair Tamara Toles O’Laughlin describes the committee's work on the toolkit.

Gretchen Goldman is the Chair of the Air and Climate Public Advisory Committee (ACPAC), which provides input on air quality, climate, and energy issues to the Metropolitan Washington Air Quality and Climate, Energy, and Environment Policy committees.
