At COG’s 15 th annual retreat area elected officials planners and city and county staff learned of new approaches to rebuilding the region’s infrastructure. The retreat sessions were designed to expand on the recent presentations to the COG Board outlining the pressing need to upgrade the area’s water and energy systems as well as its roads and bridges.

For example finding affordable housing or quality-work are significant challenges for lower income residents. At its meeting today, the National Capital Region Transportation Planning Board (TPB) voted unanimously to approve funding for nine technical assistance projects that will promote access to transit, support better pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure, and foster transit-oriented development throughout the region.
