At its May meeting the TPB received briefings on Enhanced Mobility grant solicitation, the first phase of a Climate Change Mitigation Study, and a review of comments received during the first comment period for Visualize 2045. The board approved an agreement with the Fredericksburg MPO for the share planning area in Stafford County, VA. The TPB also held a work session about the conformity projects for Visualize 2045.

According to a new report by the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (COG), there are 8,309 people experiencing homelessness in the region. This is the smallest number of people recorded since the region began coordinating on an annual enumeration 20 years ago.

Foster parents from 10 jurisdictions across the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia have been named 2021 Foster Parents of the Year by the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (COG).​

At its April meeting, the TPB approved six projects for $532,218 in funding through the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act of 2021 (CRRSAA). These projects will help organizations providing transportation assistance to older adults and people with disabilities and are impacted by COVID-19. These groups include people who may be at higher risk of contracting the virus and already faced limited transportation options before the pandemic hit.
