Introducing Collaboration in Action, COG's video series hosted by Executive Director Clark Mercer. The series spotlights COG's work with member jurisdictions and private, nonprofit, and civic organizations on a wide variety of programs and initiatives that improve the quality of life for everyone in our DMV region. Come along as Clark takes you behind the scenes of several of our initiatives, spreading the word about the value of regional partnership and highlighting the leaders and experts in our network that are making a positive impact in our communities.

COG Podcast

Prior to Collaboration in Action, COG produced a podcast, Think Regionally, to raise awareness about metropolitan Washington's biggest challenges and focus on solutions. The podcast, which was hosted by former Washington Post columnist Robert McCartney, featured local government, business, and non-profit leaders talking about a variety of timely topics, including the region's economy, racial equity, transportation, housing, and climate change.

    Washington, DC – The Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments presented the First Annual Climate and Energy Leadership Awards to the City of Falls Church, the City of Rockville, Prince William County, and Loudoun County Public Schools for their outstanding efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and increase energy efficiency.

    As the UN Climate Conference in Bonn Germany gears up this month the National Capital Region is working on climate change locally. Over the past year federal regional and local agencies have been putting their heads together to tackle one of the region’s biggest challenges: how to prepare for the climate change that is already underway.     At a joint meeting of the Climate, Energy, and Environment Policy Committee and the Metropolitan Washington Air Quality Committee, officials discussed making further progress on air pollution and greenhouse gases. COG also released The Gold Book , a report on local and state initiatives that have helped clean the air.

    Whether it’s used water from a sink a toilet dishwasher or washing machine every day 24-hours a day and 365 days a year that “dirty” water is treated at wastewater plants throughout the metropolitan Washington region. For a great portion of this region almost half of of that wastewater is treated at the Blue Plains Advanced Wastewater Treatment
