Introducing Collaboration in Action, COG's video series hosted by Executive Director Clark Mercer. The series spotlights COG's work with member jurisdictions and private, nonprofit, and civic organizations on a wide variety of programs and initiatives that improve the quality of life for everyone in our DMV region. Come along as Clark takes you behind the scenes of several of our initiatives, spreading the word about the value of regional partnership and highlighting the leaders and experts in our network that are making a positive impact in our communities.

COG Podcast

Prior to Collaboration in Action, COG produced a podcast, Think Regionally, to raise awareness about metropolitan Washington's biggest challenges and focus on solutions. The podcast, which was hosted by former Washington Post columnist Robert McCartney, featured local government, business, and non-profit leaders talking about a variety of timely topics, including the region's economy, racial equity, transportation, housing, and climate change.

    Jerry Miller to Retire After 25 Years Serving COG and the TPB

    In 1989, the Washington region was growing quickly, with new and mounting demands being placed on its transportation system. Funding was tight, and planners and elected officials at the Transportation Planning Board were looking for ways to do more with less. In December of that year, a successful national policy researcher from the Urban Institute named Jerry Miller joined the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments to serve its department of transportation planning and the TPB.

    Event Offers Contacts, Resources to Help Members Implement Green Purchasing Programs

    On January 29, COG’s Ronald F. Kirby Training Center was packed with participants attending the Green Purchasing Vendors’ Fair. More than 120 representatives from local governments, school systems, and utilities joined over 30 vendors representing a wide variety of environmentally friendly products and services. COG is sharing resources and tools from the fair to help members implement green purchasing programs
