A total of 9,774 people are experiencing homelessness in the region in 2024, according to a report by the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (COG) highlighting results from the annual Point-in-Time (PIT) count conducted by area jurisdictions and homeless services providers in January 2024. This is a 12 percent increase, or an additional 1,078 people experiencing homelessness, over the 2023 enumeration.
