Introducing Collaboration in Action, COG's video series hosted by Executive Director Clark Mercer. The series spotlights COG's work with member jurisdictions and private, nonprofit, and civic organizations on a wide variety of programs and initiatives that improve the quality of life for everyone in our DMV region. Come along as Clark takes you behind the scenes of several of our initiatives, spreading the word about the value of regional partnership and highlighting the leaders and experts in our network that are making a positive impact in our communities.

COG Podcast

Prior to Collaboration in Action, COG produced a podcast, Think Regionally, to raise awareness about metropolitan Washington's biggest challenges and focus on solutions. The podcast, which was hosted by former Washington Post columnist Robert McCartney, featured local government, business, and non-profit leaders talking about a variety of timely topics, including the region's economy, racial equity, transportation, housing, and climate change.

DC region receives $3.9 million to expand electric vehicle charging network

The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) has awarded $3.9 million to the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (COG) to support the installation of electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure. The funding, provided through the Charging and Fueling Infrastructure (CFI) Grant Program, will be used to advance the region’s ongoing initiatives to expand EV use through the development of a connected, efficient, and equitable charging network.

Council of Governments declares regional Drought Watch

As the region experiences unusually dry conditions that are expected to persist despite recent rainfall, a Drought Watch was put into effect today by the Drought Coordination Committee of the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (COG). Residents and businesses in the metropolitan Washington region are being asked to take voluntary measures to conserve water and help reduce demand on the region's water supply systems.

On April 25, 30, and May 2, the National Capital Region Transportation Planning Board (TPB) held its first Community Leadership Institute (CLI) in five years. Community leaders from Charles County to Frederick, to Manassas and jurisdictions in between met at the COG training center to learn about transportation decision-making for roadway, transit, and personal mobility projects and services.
