COG's podcast, Think Regionally, raises awareness about metropolitan Washington's biggest challenges and focuses on solutions. The podcast, which is hosted by former Washington Post columnist Robert McCartney, features local government, business, and non-profit leaders talking about a variety of timely topics, including the region's economy, racial equity, transportation, housing, and climate change.

    COG Urges Congress to Maintain $150 Million Funding Commitment to Metro

    COG Board Chair Frank Principi said the proposed reduction in funding will “severely affect badly needed capital and safety improvements demanded by the National Transportation Safety Board, the Tri-State Oversight Committee, and WMATA itself.” He went on to warn it also “opens the door to additional federal or state funding cuts during the balance of the ten year authorization.”

While other regional economies across the country suffered greatly, the steady presence of the federal government shielded metropolitan Washington from the worst effects of the recession. According to Dr. Stephen Fuller, that trend is changing.
