In a Washington Post local opinion, Commuter Connections Director Nicholas Ramfos shared his experience returning to his pre-pandemic commute. He urged residents to make a plan to return to buses, Metrorail, carpooling, vanpooling, and other shared forms of transportation as they consider coming back to the office.
“I quickly realized what I and, more important, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention knew at that point: Public transit is now safe,” wrote Ramfos. “Wearing a mask, following the spacing guidance and getting vaccinated help make it so. As the region recovers, I ask all commuters to look again at the calendar…and begin to confidently commute to and from work.”
Commuter Connections provides resources to help residents commute with confidence, including tips for safe commuting and information on what local transportation providers are doing to make shared commuting as safe as possible.
