The new year presents new opportunities for area residents to get involved at the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments with planning for the future of the region.

Two committees are recruiting members of the public—the Air and Climate Public Advisory Committee and the Transportation Planning Board’s (TPB) Community Advisory Committee.

Air and Climate Public Advisory Committee (ACPAC)

ACPAC advises COG's Metropolitan Washington Air Quality Committee and Climate, Energy, and Environment Policy Committee on regional air quality, climate, and energy challenges. Members represent communities across the region and come from a variety of professional backgrounds, including business, academia, health, environment, and civic organizations.

ACPAC members provide input on environmental policies, share knowledge and expertise, and are in-the-know about local and regional progress. ACPAC's members represent diverse community interests and opinions.

Applications are available now, and the deadline to apply is December 18.

TPB's Community Advisory Committee (CAC)

Formerly known as the Citizens Advisory Committee, the CAC is made up of 24 members from across the region who represent diverse viewpoints on long-term transportation policy.

Throughout 2021, members can expect to provide input and help promote involvement in Visualize 2045, the region’s long-range transportation plan, and advise the TPB on topics ranging from transportation safety to climate change.

Applications are available now, and the deadline to apply for a position is December 10.
