Join the thousands of metropolitan Washington area commuters who have taken the Car Free Day pledge to drop their keys September 21 and 22 to reduce their carbon footprint and win great prizes, all while embracing a healthier lifestyle. Car Free Day is an annual event celebrated world-wide that encourages commuters to leave their cars at home and find more environmentally and health-friendly ways of travel.
“By taking the pledge to go car free or car-lite through Saturday you will be counted among those who are taking action to reduce traffic congestion and emissions in our community,” said Nicholas Ramfos, Director of Commuter Connections. “We thank all those who have already taken the pledge, this year’s generous sponsors, and our partners. Your actions demonstrate your commitment to making the region a greener place to live, work, and play.”
Commuter Connections has teamed up with the American Lung Association and the American Heart Association to spread the message that going car free or car-lite can have lasting positive impacts on your health and the environment.
“The American Lung Association and the American Heart Association have made great efforts in promoting healthy and environmentally-conscious commuter choices,” said Ramfos. “We applaud all of the great work they do to improve our communities and advance this event.”
