Metropolitan Washington first responders, service agencies, helping hurricane victims in Florida, Texas, the Caribbean

First responders from metropolitan Washington with expertise in swift water rescue operations, handling hazardous materials, incident management, water, sewer, and power restoration, and providing social services are among those providing assistance to hurricane victims in Florida, Texas, and the Caribbean.

“In addition to our first responders, social service organizations and nonprofit groups across the National Capital Region have responded with aid for the hurricane victims, including food, clothing, and school supplies,” said Chuck Bean, Executive Director of the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments. “We thank them for their work during this time of urgent need. The entire region remains ready to provide assistance to those affected by these disasters."

Those who want to provide relief to those in need in should do so by making monetary donations to the American Red Cross through their website, www.redcross.org, or by contacting any of the resource providers listed by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
