Introducing Collaboration in Action, COG's video series hosted by Executive Director Clark Mercer. The series spotlights COG's work with member jurisdictions and private, nonprofit, and civic organizations on a wide variety of programs and initiatives that improve the quality of life for everyone in our DMV region. Come along as Clark takes you behind the scenes of several of our initiatives, spreading the word about the value of regional partnership and highlighting the leaders and experts in our network that are making a positive impact in our communities.

COG Podcast

Prior to Collaboration in Action, COG produced a podcast, Think Regionally, to raise awareness about metropolitan Washington's biggest challenges and focus on solutions. The podcast, which was hosted by former Washington Post columnist Robert McCartney, featured local government, business, and non-profit leaders talking about a variety of timely topics, including the region's economy, racial equity, transportation, housing, and climate change.

    Fall 2024 TPB Highlights

    The TPB met on September 18, October 16, and November 20, 2024. Key agenda items included briefs on EV infrastructure implementation, the Regional Air Passenger Survey, On-Road Greenhouse Gas Reduction Strategies, and the Regional Roadway Safety Summit. In addition, the TPB established a new Regional Transportation Resilience Subcommittee.

    Officials review preparations, coordination ahead of inauguration events

    At the November 13 COG Board of Directors meeting, officials were briefed by United States Capitol Police Chief of Police J. Thomas Manger, United States Secret Service Washington Field Office Special Agent in Charge (SAIC) William “Matt” McCool, and District of Columbia Assistant City Administrator Christopher Rodriguez on preparations and coordination ahead of the 2025 presidential inauguration, the January 6 certification of electoral votes, and other related events.

    TPB officials formulating a regionwide approach to improve roadway safety

    On Thursday, October 31, the final day of National Pedestrian Safety Month, the National Capital Region Transportation Planning Board (TPB) convened for the Regional Roadway Safety Summit, joined by experts from academia and the federal government to develop recommendations for regional and local action.​
