This virtual town hall series from the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (COG) and the National Capital Region Transportation Planning Board (TPB) brings together local government leaders to explore tools and strategies to help our communities emerge stronger, more resilient, and more focused on advancing racial equity in 2021.

Town Hall 1: Out of Crisis into Crisis: Understanding the Impact of Emerging Trends, Current Events on Planning

2020 is a year of co-occurring crises, and it’s possible that new crises will emerge. Speakers detail disruptive demographic trends emerging before these crises that were magnified by the COVID-19 pandemic and racial reckoning. The focus of the first town hall lays the foundation for a roadmap for more inclusive and equitable economic development, with an eye toward improving overall community health, prosperity, and resiliency moving forward.
