The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District, and the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments invite you to an Open House to learn about a study on coastal flooding problems and potential solutions. Staff will be on hand to provide a study overview and answer questions. A formal presentation will occur at 7:30 P.M., should you be interested.
The Northern Virginia Coastal Storm Risk Management Study will focus on sites in Arlington County, the City of Alexandria, Fairfax County, northern Prince William County, and at the Metropolitan Washington Airport Authority’s Reagan National Airport—as part of an effort to reduce coastal flood risk to people, properties, and infrastructure.
The District of Columbia and Prince George’s County will share findings and strategies from their various coastal flooding efforts through COG as they also work together to build a more resilient region.
In addition to the meeting, members of the public are encouraged to share any information or datasets related to flooding or flood risk management that may be relevant to the study, including reports, photos or other digital data, as well as climate change impact analyses or studies. Please share this information with the study team by sending an email to MetroDCCoastalStudy@usace.army.mil
For more information on the study, visit the Army Corps of Engineers page.
There is parking at the Library and the adjacent Mt. Vernon Recreation Center. It is easily accessible off of the George Washington Memorial Parkway and the Mt.
