COG will hold a recycling subcommittee meeting Thursday, November 2nd, from 11am-1pm on the regional implications of adding food service packaging (FSP) to recycling collection and on the possible impacts of China’s National Sword import restrictions. This meeting is for local government staff and invited guests only.
The COG Recycling Committee created this Materials and Markets subcommittee at the September meeting with Phil Bresee of Arlington County as chairman. The July meeting on adding new materials to local recycling programs created significant regional interest in the topic. The meeting will focus on the impacts and implications of adding cups, containers, boxes and bags to your recycling program.
We will also be covering issues related to China’s recent waste import restriction and how it may impact local government programs. This exploration will include hearing directly from MRF operators, a discussion of FPI commissioned studies on contamination and commodities, and a discussion of communications and marketing for expanded programs. We will host guest attendee Matt Todd, Senior Consultant of Resource Recycling Systems, and are working to schedule in-person or remote attendance from the local MRFs.
Please let me know if you have any questions or comments. I can provide a call in webinar connection if you cannot attend in person.
