Death Notification - Suicide Awareness and Prevention
Suicide is a major public health problem, According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control, in 2009, it was the tenth leading cause of death in the U.S., accounting for almost 37,000 deaths.
It is the intent of this training to provide regional Public Safety and Military Chaplains with an overview and better understanding of the upswing of first-responder and community suicide rates, what it means to the region and how to better recognize and potentially mitigate these curcumstances prior to the termination / loss of a life.
We ask that you listen attentively and with an open mind as we seek to understand the varied nuances of this growing regional and national concern.
