This session will review EPA's online energy management tool, ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager, which enables you to track the progress of your energy efficiency efforts and compare your buildings' energy and water use to that of similar buildings across the country.

Attendees will learn how to use Portfolio Manager to measure and track energy use and carbon dioxide emission reductions, and some features such as establish baselines, set goals, and track improvements over time.  Additional topics will include best practices for bulk data management for new and existing accounts, and real-life examples of organizations that have successfully benchmarked large portfolios of buildings.   This training will review the four simple steps of benchmarking in Portfolio Manager, and will demonstrate how to use the Master Account sharing feature.

At the end of this training session, attendees will have learned how to:

  • Compare building performance against similar properties;
  • View trends over time;
  • Develop appropriate energy-reduction targets; and
  • Assess a building portfolio's strengths and areas for improvement in order to prioritize projects.

Attendees are encouraged to bring their building data.  For data requirements for all space types, check the Data Collection Sheet under the Benchmarking Starter Kit page. (http://www.energystar.gov/index.cfm?c=evaluate_performance.bus_portfoliomanager_benchmarking)
