The Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (MWCOG) Public Safety Chaplains Subcommittee of the Police and Fire Chiefs' committee will host its Annual Public Safety Chaplains Training Day-2010 entitled "WHY CALL FOR A CHAPLAIN, ANYWAY".  The training will be held on Monday, November 15, 2010 beginning at 9:00 AM at the CIA Headquarters, Langley, Virginia.  This training is for POLICE/FIRE/EMS COMMAND STAFF, INCIDENT COMMANDERS, along with their department's CHAPLAIN, as well as MILITARY CHAPLAINS.

The morning's program (9AM-12:30 PM) is designed specifically for SWORN COMMAND STAFF (POLICE/FIRE/EMS COMMANDERS & CHAPLAINS) who will explore the question, "Why Call For a Chaplain Anyway?" during the scene of a critical incident.

The discussion will focus on the need for spiritual support for first responders.  This program will not concentrate on chaplain support for private citizens, but rather for the huge numbers of first responders supporting our NCR.

Speakers will include:  Lawrence Schultz, Assistant Fire Chief Operations, District of Columbia Fire & EMS (Incident Commander of the 2009 Metro Train Crash; and Chaplain/Rabbi Steven Kaye, Chaplain Denver Police Department (Chaplain, Columbine School Shooting), plus other guests.  The morning will also feature a welcome and discussion from CIA Director Leon Panetta.  The Afternoon Session is designed for Public Safety and Military Chaplains and will feature a training discussion entitled, "Effective Chaplain Support at the Scene" and will feature Rabbi Kayne along with Chaplain Cyndee Thomas, President of the International Conference of Police Chaplains!
