Pedestrians and bicyclists account for a fifth of the traffic fatalities in the region, nearly 85 deaths per year.  In response, the National Capital Region Transportation Planning Board carries out a regional media and enforcement campaign known as “Street Smart”.  Enforcement makes media more effective, and vice versa.  Therefore the TPB is encouraging regional law enforcement agencies to step up pedestrian enforcement during the Street Smart campaign, which will kick off March 25th.

This seminar will provide an opportunity for practitioners to share their expertise and their responses to the challenges of pedestrian safety enforcement.
