Light Rail Transit — the modern version of the old-fashioned streetcar — is coming to D.C. By 2006, a light rail line in Anacostia is scheduled to be up and running. Four lines are being considered: Anacostia Corridor/Minnesota Ave to National Harbor; Silver Spring to Anacostia Corridor; Woodley Park to Stadium-Armory; and Georgetown to Stadium-Armory.

Will these trains take you and your community where you need to go? At a public meeting the evening of Wednesday, April 28, representatives from the District of Columbia and from Metro will give you the facts and answer your questions. Speakers will include DC Council-member Phil Mendelson, Alex Eckmann of the District Department of Transportation and Greg Walker and Tomika Hughey of the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA).

The meeting will be hosted by the Transportation Planning Board’s Citizens Advisory Committee, chaired by Dennis Jaffe. For more information, contact John Swanson at the Council of Governments (COG) at 202-962-3295 or see www.mwcog.org.
