Columbia Pike Revitalization: Can It Be a Model for the Region?
A Public Meeting Hosted by the Citizens Advisory Committe to the National Capital Region Transportation Planning Board
Arlington County has launched a comprehensive revitalization project, including improved transit services and more pedestrian-friendly urban design, that is intended to return Arlington's Columbia Pike to a more traditional "mainstreet" environment. On the evening of Wednesday, December 3, citizens will have a chance to learn about these efforts and discuss whether this type of revitalization can be a model for the Washington region. Arlington County Board Member Chris Zimmerman will be on hand to discuss transportation options for Columbia Pike. Speakers will also include Tim Lynch of the Columbia Pike Revitalization Organization and consultant Geoff Farrell who were both active in developing a new zoning structure to encourage mixed-use, pedestrian-friendly development along Columbia Pike.
