2023 WASHINGTON METROPOLITAN AMERICA RECYCLES DAY
REGIONAL PRIZE RULES

NO PURCHASE IS NECESSARY.
ONE ENTRY PER PERSON.

TERM: This contest will last from July 15-November 21, 2023.

GRAND PRIZES: A $300 gift certificate at REI and a $500 grant to the environmental club/program/project of the winner's choice will be provided by the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments to a K-12 student; a $300 gift certificate at REI will be provided by the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments to one winner of any age.

ODDS OF WINNING: Odds of winning will be determined by the number of entries received. Odds of winning a regional prize are at least 1:25,000.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE: To enter, enter online or hand print your complete name and address on a 3"x 5" scrap piece of paper or pre-printed entry card. Mail your entry to: America Recycles Day Contest; c/o Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments; 777 North Capitol St., NE; Suite 300; Washington, DC 20002 . Entries must be postmarked by 11/21/23 for the  local drawing. Winners will be selected by a random drawing before December 15, 2023. The Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments is not responsible for entries that are late, lost, illegible, misdirected or have insufficient postage, and reserves the right to modify scheduling of the contest without prior notice.

NOTIFICATION: The prize winners will be notified on or after 12/15/23.

ELIGIBILITY: All legal U.S. residents living in the COG membership area may participate in this contest. The area is defined as all areas within the District of Columbia, Frederick County, Montgomery County, Prince George's County, Arlington County, Fairfax County, Loudoun County, Prince William County, the City of Alexandria, Charles County, and cities and towns located in or adjacent to those counties. Employees and their immediate family members of the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (MWCOG), MWCOG America Recycles Day Steering Committee members, Keep America Beautiful, representatives of the national steering committee, state organizers and participating sponsors are NOT ELIGIBLE. This contest void wherever prohibited or restricted by law and is subject to all federal, state and local laws and regulations.

CONDITIONS: The Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments, MWCOG members, KAB, participating sponsors, state agency or recycling organization organizers and product donors are not in any way liable for damage, loss or injury from entering the contest or acceptance and use of the regional prizes. The winner may need to sign a liability waiver. By submitting an entry, participants accept and agree to these rules and the decisions of the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments and KAB, which shall be final. There is no warranty on the regional prizes. Winners assume complete liability for injuries caused, claimed to be caused by participation in this contest, or the use or misuse of any prizes. The Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments reserves the right in its sole discretion to suspend this contest should causes beyond the control of sponsor, corrupt the administration, security or proper play of the contest. Winners may be required to execute an affidavit of eligibility and release which must be completed and returned within 21 days of notification or an alternate winner will be selected. Taxes, and additional shipping, handling and delivery fees in excess of the prize amount, if any, are the sole responsibility of the prize winner. By accepting a prize, winner grants the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments permission for the use of his/her name and likeness for advertising and future promotion purposes without additional compensation except where prohibited. Prizes not claimed may not be awarded. This contest is subject to these complete and official rules. A statement of the winners' names will be available after 12/15/23.
