Big Moves: Greater Washington 2050 Scenario Thinking Workshop Report

On November 2008, the Greater Washington 2050 Coalition and regional leaders engaged in a full-day scenario thinking workshop to brainstorm how our region could respond to global and national forces that would likely influence our region's economic growth, transportation choices, and the environment between now and 2050. The purpose of the scenario workshop was to examine long-term risks and opportunities in the metropolitan region and encourage bold and creative thinking. Priorities for a Growing Region: Greater Washington 2050 Survey of Area Residents

In February 2009, the Greater Washington 2050 Coalition commissioned this public opinion survey to understand residents' priorities and aspirations for the future of the region. The survey reveals area residents' connection to the region and indicates where they want the most emphasis by regional leaders over the coming decades.

Community Health Indicators for the Washington Metropolitan Region

This report highlights some health problems in the Washington area and may point to opportunities for jurisdictions in the region to collaborate on common concerns or to learn from the work of neighbors. Region Forward is COG's vision. It's a commitment by COG and its member governments, who together seek to create a more prosperous, accessible, livable, and sustainable metropolitan Washington. Region Forward includes goals, targets, and the Greater Washington 2050 Compact, a voluntary agreement to motivate area governments and stakeholders to advance the vision.

Inclusion of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy in State Implementation Plans for Air Quality and Climate Change

Renewable energy and energy efficiency and conservation (EERE) are core components of regional strategies to reduce carbon emissions and improve air quality. EERE projects in the metropolitan Washington region have the capacity to reduce demand for electricity, create new sources of clean energy, and reduce overall emissions of criteria pollutant (precursors to ozone and fine particles) as well as greenhouse gases.
