Regional Bus Service Provision Study
Dec 27, 2018
Summary
Bus service in the Metropolitan Washington region is provided by over ten different agencies, each with its own geography, cost drivers, funding structure, and operational practices. The purpose of this study was twofold: to better understand how and why agencies’ costs vary, and to identify ways to further enhance efficiency and improve coordination, collaboration, and partnering between agencies in the delivery of transit service with an ultimate objective of improving the customer experience. The National Capital Regional Transportation Planning Board (TPB), in coordination with DRPT, MDOT, VDOT, and WMATA, commissioned the Regional Bus Service Provision Study.
