NBC 4 recently featured two important transportation topics on their weekly Viewpoint program: bicyclist and pedestrian safety and wheelchair-accessible taxicabs.
Street Smart, a program of COG and the National Capital Region Transportation Planning Board (TPB), is aimed at improving bicyclist and pedestrian safety. Street Smart recently launched its annual spring campaign to raise awareness and increase enforcement of safety laws.
rollDC, a pilot program of the TPB that brought wheelchair-accessible cabs to the District of Columbia, has provided over 6,000 rides since its launch and customers have praised the service and want the program to continue and be expanded.
Guests included Patrick Wojahn, TPB member and City Councilmember for College Park; George Branyan, Pedestrian Safety Coordinator for DDOT; and Robert Coward, President of Direct Action.
