WASHINGTON, DC – Members of the National Capital Region Transportation Planning Board (TPB) voted today to include projects such as the I-395/I-95 HOV and HOT lanes project in Northern Virginia in an air quality analysis of the region’s long range transportation plan.
Once this analysis is completed, the TPB will vote to amend the Financially Constrained Long Range Transportation Plan (CLRP) to include the projects. That vote is scheduled to be held in the fall.
The six projects that were voted to undergo air quality analysis include:
- Converting one of the five one-way lanes on H Street NW in the District of Columbia to a bus-only lane during peak travel periods.
- Constructing and operating of a streetcar system connecting Crystal City in Arlington County with Potomac Yard in Alexandria.
- Modifying the allocation of HOV and HOT lanes in portions of the I-395/I-95 HOV and HOT lanes project in Northern Virginia.
- Constructing a reversible on/off ramp that connects Seminary Road in Alexandria with the I-395 HOV lanes, providing greater auto and transit access to the nearby Mark Center.
- Widening of U.S. 1 from four lanes to six from VA 235 to the Prince William County line.
- Widening of I-66 general purpose and HOV lanes from U.S. 15 to U.S. 29.
