Davis, Fisette And Williams To Lead COG Board Of Directors In 2005

Jan 12, 2005
The Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (COG) today elected Greenbelt Mayor Judith (“J”) Davis to head its Board of Directors. Arlington County Board Member G.N. Jay Fisette and District of Columbia Mayor Anthony Williams will serve as vice chairs.

Judith “J” Davis is in her seventh term on the Greenbelt City Council. She has held positions on COG's Ad Hoc Digital Divide Task Force, Strategic Planning Committee, and Chesapeake Bay Policy Committee. Davis served as COG's 2004 liaison to the Potomac Regional Education Partnership Advisory Board and currently serves as liaison to the Advisory Board of the Institute for Regional Excellence, an executive development program for senior municipal managers.

Jay Fisette was elected to the Arlington County Board in November 1997. As a member of COG, he has served on the Metropolitan Development Policy Committee and the Regional Emergency Preparedness Council. Anthony Williams is in his second term as Mayor of the District of Columbia.

“It is an honor to assume the role of Chair,” Davis said. “It’s important that we work out issues of regional concern here at COG, where we have many members who do very important work.”

The Board also appointed chairs to oversee procedures of several policy committees. They are: Frederick County Commissioner John Lovell, Chesapeake Bay Policy Committee; Alexandria Council Member Rob Krupicka, Committee on Noise Abatement and Aviation at National and Dulles Airports; Arlington County Council Member Walter Tejada, Human Services Policy Committee; Prince George’s County Planning Board Chair Elizabeth Hewlett; Metropolitan Development Policy Committee; Fairfax County Supervisor Penelope A. Gross, Public Safety Policy Committee.
