Description:

Created in partnership with the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments, the Loudoun Learners Program connects promising residents with a paid, full-time technology role for two years. Participants gain the skills and experience they need to grow their careers through the power of experiential learning under the guidance of expert mentors.

The Loudoun Learners Program encourages Loudoun County residents who are aspiring technologists, to apply for this opportunity to gain the experience and confidence to successfully launch a career. You will work alongside expert consultants, learning skills in software development and testing, while contributing to real projects for Loudoun County departments. The program will start in October 2024.

Activities

· Learn and utilize technologies such as Java, JavaScript and ServiceNow

· Learn technology areas such as cyber security as required

· Learn and utilize Agile practices

· Learn critical business skills such communications, writing, virtual and in-person meeting etiquette to help you succeed

· Learn resume and interviewing skills

· Perform work using a variety of technologies and skills including ServiceNow

· Prepare for critical technology industry certifications such as ServiceNow and Agile

· Work closely with the project leads and mentors who provide project task management and quality assurance

· Learn about Loudoun County departments and their work

Requirements

· Loudoun County Residency (Proof of residency will be required)

· 18 years of age or older

· Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship or restriction

· Registered for US Military Selective Service (if applicable)

· Passion for technology

· Self-Motivation and desire to succeed

· Some previous training or coursework in software development fundamentals, online learning, a boot camp, or classroom instruction. Previous learning may be self-taught

· Flexibility to switch gears as client needs change

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills

· Ability and interest in working in a team environment

· Desire to learn new technologies in support of projects

· Ability to work full-time, in a County-located office as assigned

Hours, Location and Pay

8:30 am to 5:30 pm

Loudoun County Facility as assigned (TBD) at least 3 days per week
