The Institute for Regional Excellence (IRE) is a partnership between COG and The George Washington University offering a graduate-level Certified Public Manager training program for mid- to senior-level managers in area governments. The year-long program assists managers in dealing with the challenges of providing services and meeting the needs of residents in a growing metropolitan area.
The Regional Leadership Training Seminar imparts modern behavioral science and leadership theories to enhance motivation, satisfaction, and performance while developing homeland security and public safety professionals across multiple disciplines for COG member and non-member jurisdictions. The course is delivered over three, one-week, in-person sessions. Public service personnel with a leadership component to their professional responsibilities are eligible to participate.
The Community Leadership Institute (CLI) is an educational program of the Transportation Planning Board that encourages community leaders to get involved in transportation-related decision-making at all levels. CLI is a course of two interrelated workshops that includes information about the various planning processes at the state, regional, and local levels.
