COG worked with its member governments to develop and share common messages during the pandemic. Area public information officers shared information and graphics on COVID-19 vaccination efforts with each other to better align messaging. The group also developed regional messages to complement and amplify the local and state communications efforts, including a social media toolkit and a joint Spanish radio ad being supported by COG as well as local governments and partner foundations.
In Spring 2020, area public information officers also worked together on a campaign to encourage area residents to take action to stop the spread of COVID-19 and coordinated a joint "Stay Home " statement by 21 chief elected officials through a COG news release that was widely covered in the media and amplified on social media.
